US Insurance Leader Accelerates Digital Transformation of Products Catalog with No-code Platform

The Client

The American company is the world’s largest publicly traded property and casualty insurance organization, operating in 54 countries.

The Challenges

The current applications, constructed on an angular code stack, prove inflexible to modifications when onboarding or editing products in the insurance catalog. Also, the product onboarding or modifications demanded a substantial timeframe, averaging 2 to 3 months per product—a pace misaligned with the business’s preference for a more agile solution, given the frequency of product changes. To add to the hurdles, the client’s system lacked the capability to handle parallel product change requests, thereby becoming a bottleneck to the smooth flow of alterations in the insurance catalog.

The Solution

Persistent Systems devised an innovative solution to address our client’s intricate challenges. By  implementing a comprehensive web application, we centralized the maintenance of various sub-modules essential for product configuration—encompassing Releases, Products, LOBs, Coverages, Forms, Questions, Rating, Underwriting Rules, Data Dictionaries, and Wireframes. This unified approach allows for a single-point UI, streamlining the linking, editing, viewing, and searching of product content based on user privileges.

Additionally, the solution introduces a robust mechanism for generating business reports, enhancing decision-making capabilities. To foster flexibility and efficiency, an API-driven approach was adopted, leveraging Azure API Manager to persist and exchange data seamlessly with the product designer. This transformative solution not only overcame the existing challenges but also empowered our client with unmatched outcomes, aligning their product management processes with agility and scalability.

The Outcome

The solution substantially reduced the time required for configuring and approving products, shrinking from 2 to 3 months to an impressive 0.5 to 1 month—a remarkable 60 to 70% decrease in the overall timeline. The newfound flexibility and efficiency enabled multi-product configurations to proceed concurrently, significantly enhancing time-to-market capabilities. Furthermore, the solution facilitated a unified product catalog by establishing bidirectional data exchange between the product configurator and product designer applications. This synchronization provided a cohesive and streamlined view, empowering seamless product editing and fostering a more integrated and responsive product management ecosystem.
