Modernization of XCaaS platform for zero-touch deployments

8×8 is a global communications provider with more than 2M business users, integrating voice, video, chat, contact center, and enterprise API solutions into one secure, reliable Cloud[1]based communications platform.

The Challenge

8×8 wanted to become a transformative partner for XCaaS — Experience Communications as a Service — by deploying a Partner Exchange platform featuring channel onboarding and sales with automated infrastructure setup.

The Solution

8×8 was already a successful provider of Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) and Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) platforms with more than 2M business users, but their goal was to become a leading XCaaS provider by developing a flagship Partner Exchange platform. In 8×8’s vision, the new platform would enable partners to drive efficiencies with simplified processes and omnichannel routing while enabling automation, advanced analytics, and real-time visibility.

The Persistent solution began with an accelerated migration from AWS to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for lower TCO and improved utilities. The new cloud based platform delivered automated provisioning with Infrastructure-as-Code scripts and deployment pipelines while supporting comprehensive quality engineering for business, voice-over, e-commerce billing and mobile apps.

Persistent’s solution enabled API engineering and integrations with leading CRMs, for standardized and rich ecosystems, along with Cloud Ops Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to manage end-to-end platform operations. This resulted in streamlined ordering management with omnichannel skill-based routing and case deflection, leveraging chat-based automation, and Salesforce enhancements.

Persistent’s cloud-based solution successfully provisioned highly available, scalable, and automated deployments of partners’ multi-cloud data centers, empowering partners to drive timely business decisions.

The Outcome

The 8×8 solution leveraged an accelerated migration from AWS to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and the use of Infrastructure-as-Code to deliver zero-touch data center provisioning with complete automation. The implementation of 8×8’s Partner Exchange Platform has led to the acquisition of more than 650 new partners globally, extending across more than 40 countries. And the platform has come with a 40% cost savings, in large part through the move from AWS to OCI.
