We have been Bridgestone Europe’s software engineering partner for five years now and have been instrumental in developing and driving their mobile strategy. Bridgestone has a very innovative way of how they charge for their tyres. Essentially, large European fleet companies pay Bridgestone monthly on the basis of the number of kilometers run per tyre.
Keeping track of tyres was a tedious task for Bridgestone service engineers. Loss of tyre information meant loss of revenue to Bridgestone. Persistent came up with an Internet-based mobile solution using RF Tracking to improve the accuracy of gathering real-time information concerning tyre health and distance travelled in a centralized manner. I am delighted to tell you that this solution improved productivity for Bridgestone’s service engineers and dealers by 8 times. i.e. 800%.
The solution of Bridgestone had a target deployment of approximately 1000 dealers in more than 15 European countries, all integrated seamlessly with Bridgestone’s central data servers and CRM solutions in Brussels.
We are very proud of the fact that this innovation is referenced by C.K. Prahalad and M. S. Krishnan in their book – The New Age of Innovation: Driving Co-created Value Through Global Networks.
Persistent Systems participated in the NASSCOM Innovation Award 2008 in the ‘Market Facing – Business Process and Business Model’ category and has been chosen amongst the TOP 5 finalists.
The final results are yet to be announced. It will be quite an achievement to win this award!
