Salesforce made an exciting announcement at Dreamforce 2023 that is poised to benefit a wide range of its customer base — the company will offer free licenses for Data Cloud for Enterprise Edition and above.

This move will open up the power of Data Cloud to a variety of companies in different vertical industries that are looking to leverage data insights for better customer experiences and increased user satisfaction. Both are critical imperatives for any company looking to drive growth amid a fluctuating macroeconomic environment. Research from McKinsey shows that companies are pursuing a strategy of “experience-led growth” that emphasizes “providing a distinctive customer experience (CX), consistently and proactively, that entices customers who choose their brand.” One way to enable this strategy is for a company to mine their vast data repositories for user and customer insights and enhancing digital experiences, all of which can be enabled by leveraging Data Cloud and Tableau, Salesforce’s visual analytics platform.

The newly announced package includes:

  • 250,000 Data Services credits; 1 TB of data storage; 1 Data Cloud admin; 100 internal Data Cloud identity users, 1,000 Data Cloud PSL; and 5 integration users. Unlimited Plus Edition customers will get access to 2,500,000 Data Service credits.
  • 2 Tableau Creator licenses.

With this new offering, Salesforce has effectively eliminated barriers to entry for companies looking to explore the power of Data Cloud, regardless of their level of previous experience with the offering.

The Power of Salesforce Data Cloud and Tableau

Salesforce Data Cloud, formerly Customer Data Platform (CDP), is a real-time data platform that provides a single source of truth for customer data across various business functions. It excels in seamlessly gathering data from a variety of sources, funnels it into an expansive data lake, and illuminates its meaning with precision.

A common misconception is that Data Cloud and Tableau are one and the same. Tableau is a game-changing visual analytics platform that revolutionizes how we utilize data to address challenges and maximize the value of data.

Think of Tableau as an added layer of Data Cloud that enables users to make data-driven decisions on live customer data. With Tableau, users can create interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations that make complex data accessible and actionable.
