Core banking platform modernization for a trusted technology partner of 40+ credit unions

Client is the consortium of the Atlantic Credit Union System and currently supports 40+ credit unions. They help credit unions adapt to an evolving market through sustainable innovation, leadership, and support.

The Challenge

The Client’s 40+ credit union partners were on a heavily customized legacy core banking system, which was scheduled to sunset in August 2024. They were looking for a partner who could provide fully integrated technology solutions to deliver a member experience that enables growth while reducing administration and operational costs​.

The solution had to ensure that the existing northbound and southbound integrations remained unchanged while providing support for ISO 8583 and ISO 20022 for card issuing and ATM/POS payments for cards, P2P, and online channels.

The Solution

Persistent as a product engineering and systems integration partner helped build multi-tenant Mule platform services and React JS-based Teller UI to serve 40+ Credit Unions.

The solution consisted of a modern branch interface portal with over 50+ unique flows and 200+ screens using React JS, which appear inside Mambu native screens as a seamless plug-in.

Mambu’s native database model was extended using Mambu Custom Fields and Functional Data Store. We also implemented 500+ n-tier Mule APIs for all northbound, and southbound interfaces and process orchestration.

The solution also delivered innovative services such as Forex among four currencies, Safe Deposit box, issuing different types of debit cards, and managing card lifecycle.

The integration and delivery model were based on automated CICD using AWS Code services for Mule APIs and React JS UI.

The Outcome
  • Reduction in TTM: Early release for the first credit union – planned for June 2023.
  • Improved ops efficiency: Enabled multi-tenancy which helped improve inter-operability between credit unions – 150 branches and 1500 internal staff.
  • High customer satisfaction: Designed state-of-the-art UI/UX with better end-user interfaces for 300,000 members and 40+ products.
