Enhancing Business Continuity and Efficiency for Global Polymer Leader

The Client

Our client, a global leader in the polymer industry, delivers innovative solutions to diverse sectors. With a substantial presence across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa and a workforce exceeding 3,100, the company is at the forefront of addressing global challenges such as climate change and resource scarcity.  Its operations are underpinned by industry-leading proprietary technologies, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and technological advancement.

The Challenge

The client had been using ARIS since 2019 to streamline its operations. As their processes evolved, an upgrade to the latest ARIS version, SR 23, became necessary. This version brings a refined approach to process modeling, as Software AG has made the strategic decision to discontinue the HTML Export feature in ARIS Business Publisher. This move aligns with the industry’s shift toward more modern and efficient methods of sharing and publishing process models.

Persistent recognized the opportunity to support the client during a pivotal transition due to the discontinuation of the HTML Export feature, which had been essential for the functionality of their custom-built scripts. These scripts played a vital role in their business processes and were accessed seamlessly through automated workflows. This complexity was heightened by the intricate interdependencies among reports, involving numerous internal calls.

With a tight deadline of 10 days and a backlog of seven primary reports, the situation demanded a swift and effective solution. The challenge was even more significant considering that these seven core reports were linked to several other smaller scripts and batch files, effectively expanding the scope to 14 reports within the same timeframe.

Faced with a tight deadline of just 10 days and a backlog of seven primary reports, the situation called for a prompt and effective solution. Additionally, the challenge was amplified by the fact that these seven core reports were interconnected with several smaller scripts and batch files, effectively expanding the scope to 14 reports. This scenario provided a valuable opportunity for collaboration and innovation, allowing Persistent to demonstrate its commitment to delivering exceptional support and guidance to its clients during this transition.

The Solution

Persistent was engaged as a trusted partner to navigate this critical operational challenge. Our extensive ARIS expertise, coupled with a proven track record in delivering complex solutions, positioned us as the ideal choice.

To address this multifaceted challenge, we adopted a strategic approach:

  • Dedicated Environment Setup: We created an isolated ARIS environment specifically configured for HTML export, safeguarding the client’s production environment from potential disruptions.
  • Meticulous Report Reconstruction: Our team meticulously rebuilt all seven primary reports, preserving their original functionalities while adapting them to the new ARIS version. The intricate web of internal report calls was carefully managed to ensure accurate and consistent outputs.
  • Seamless Script Integration: To guarantee uninterrupted operations, we modified the existing scripts to align with the newly structured reports. Rigorous testing was conducted to validate the correct generation of the required output.

The Outcome

Our collaboration with the client yielded exceptional results:

  • Swift Report Restoration: Despite the complexity and tight deadline, we successfully reconstructed and deployed all 14 reports, encompassing the seven primary reports and their associated internal calls, well within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Uninterrupted Business Operations: The restored reports seamlessly integrated with the client’s existing systems, ensuring business continuity.
  • Significant Efficiency Gains: The resolution of the ARIS report issue has markedly improved the efficiency of various business processes, resulting in increased productivity.
  • Substantial Cost Savings: By successfully executing the project, we delivered a cost saving of approximately $16,000 compared to the estimated cost of rewriting all scripts from scratch.
