Faced with the need to unify three complex legacy systems into a single platform, an American healthcare company specializing in technology services, pharmacy care services, and direct healthcare services, partnered with Persistent to develop an intuitive, efficient system leveraging Salesforce Health Cloud and other advanced tools.
The Challenge
The client needed to unify three legacy systems under a single, cohesive new platform. The existing workflows were complex and cumbersome, requiring meticulous migration. Handling PHI clinical data demanded the highest security standards. The client selected Persistent to craft an intuitive, swift user experience for Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and providers who would rely on the new system daily. Managing Salesforce limits and ensuring optimal performance were pivotal to the project’s success. Essentially, Persistent was tasked with creating a mini-EMR, akin to EPIC, but on the Salesforce platform.
The Solution
Persistent started by tackling the front-end technology. Visualforce was initially used, but as the project advanced, they transitioned to the more robust Lightning Web Components (LWC).
The team developed several reusable components and modules within Salesforce Health Cloud, focusing on configuration to ensure flexibility and adaptability. Five distinct portals were created to address various use cases, each tailored to meet specific user needs.
One of the standout achievements was the creation of a highly advanced, custom-built assessment engine. This engine was designed to carry out clinical surveys and patient assessments with precision and ease. Additionally, an intelligent ICD/CPT code suggestion tool, known as Smart-logic, was developed to streamline the coding process.
To ensure seamless integration, a reusable integration layer was implemented. This layer supported 21 integrations and facilitated smooth communication between different systems and functions, enhancing overall efficiency and performance.
