Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI), founded in 1997, have grown to become one of the best education entities in the country and have built a reputation for excellence in professional education and research. A brainchild of renowned educationist and philanthropist, Dr. O.P Bhalla, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions now encompass a group of nine vibrant, world class institutions.
MREI has its main campus in Faridabad, the National Capital Region of India and offers eight graduation, post-graduation, and diploma courses for Indian and international students.
MREI identified the benefits of a cloud campus to help disseminate important information to their students, bridging communication between the faculty and students as also student wide ease of collaboration among other numerous advantages. Their existing infrastructure was a legacy third party hosted service that made it extremely difficult for the IT department to manage and customize. As a result, the IT department at the group needed a solution which was easy to manage, secure and would minimize downtime for the 20000 users. Hence, the need to switch to the cloud was established.
The IT department at MREI needed mailing and document storage solutions, ability to send campus-wide circulars and one of their prime concerns was mobility. After detailed evaluation and comparison of Google Apps for Education and Microsoft Office 365, the decision makers at MREI saw steep benefits of adopting Google Apps and sealed their decision.
Google Apps for Education is free in context to user licenses and a product that we deployed for the MREI across all its nine institutions. The IT department now has a complete control over the infrastructure and can easily operate functions like user creation, password reset, enable custom IT Policies, activating and deactivating domain level services, access audit log reports from a single super admin Google Apps dashboard.
With an SLA promising almost a cent percent uptime (exactly 99.98%) and SAS Type II security of the data, the institutions are no more hassled by downtime and security issues. Their needs of communicating with institute wide circulars, and other collaboration needs are well met with Google Apps solutions as each user has an independent email id at the group’s domain. Students, faculty, and staff now access emails and documents Anytime, Anyplace and from any device solving their need of mobility.
We were able to deliver the exact expectations of the Group. Our Google Apps education specialists were able to show them the process transformation that came along with Google Apps. Google certified deployment specialists were able to deliver a seamless migration of MREI-wide 20k users to Google Apps. In addition, we offered project management services including strategic deployment planning and formulating timelines for all deliverables in the scope, domain provisioning and upgrades, user creations, DNS settings, data migration, creation of organization units and groups, and change management sessions to include instructor led classroom and virtual trainings on managing control panel for super admins, end user training sessions for students and staff and create training website for self-learning post change management trainings.
