The client is the largest police department in the United States, with over 50,000 employees, including 36,000 uniformed officers responsible for law enforcement and traffic management of the most populated American city.
The Challenge
As one of the most prominent law enforcement agencies, the client is responsible for capturing, reading, and transmitting large volumes of transactional data daily. This includes data from sensors, automatic license plate readers, ~30K CCTV cameras, and radioactive, chemical and gunshot detectors. Annotating the right objects and text from streaming data was also a challenge.
The client wanted a robust solution that would help them process time-sensitive data in near real-time from all existing systems, including 250 external sources.
The Solution
To help the client process such vast humongous data, Persistent created and maintained highly available fault-tolerant microservice applications, architecture and infrastructure. It also ensured that the client’s all three data centers were up and running 24/7 to support uninterrupted data streaming.
Persistent also provided support for internal programs such as incident monitoring and response, problem root cause determination, and resolution. It took all the necessary steps to develop, configure, test, remediate, and deploy the required applications while providing support for developing and integrating production platforms or environments.
Persistent offered value-added services like data management assistance, managing current and future cloud initiatives and cloud-based and on-premises application servicing.
The Outcome
The client can now process 7 million sensor data daily to help its 40,000 active users.
Data processed with minimal latency generates real-time reports and automated responses, enabling the client to respond faster and strengthen law enforcement capabilities.
